Adding New Clothing Items – Male Vest and Female Long Dress


Hello, fellow game developers and players!

I’m excited to share some fresh updates about the character base asset pack. As a solo developer, I’m always striving to enhance the versatility and depth of this pack, and today, I’m thrilled to introduce two brand-new clothing items: the Male Vest and the Female Long Dress!

Why I Added These New Clothing Items

When I started this project, my goal was to provide a broad range of customizable character assets to help bring your farming simulation or RPG game to life. I’ve received some great feedback from the community, and one request that kept coming up was for more clothing options. So, I decided to focus on expanding the wardrobe with items that add a bit more style and personality to your characters.

Designing the Male Vest and Female Long Dress

Creating these new clothing items was a fun challenge. The Male Vest is designed to add a rugged, practical look for your characters—perfect for those scenes where they need to show off a bit of charm while working on the farm. The Female Long Dress, on the other hand, brings a touch of elegance and grace, suitable for more formal or casual settings in your game.

For both items, I made sure to align them with the existing style and animations. Each piece had to fit seamlessly over the characters’ bodies, match the existing color palette, and work with all animations, including walking, carrying, and more. As a solo dev, I have to wear many hats (pun intended!), so balancing design, functionality, and aesthetics was key.

Integrating the New Clothing into Existing Animations

Once the designs were finalized, the real work began—integrating these new clothing options into all the existing animations. This step is always a meticulous process, especially when ensuring that every piece of clothing behaves naturally in every possible character action. For example, the Male Vest needed to look good whether the character was walking or swinging a pickaxe. Similarly, the Female Long Dress had to move realistically when the character was sowing seeds or riding a mount.

After several iterations and lots of fine-tuning, I’m happy to say that these new clothing items look fantastic in all animations!

Looking Ahead: More Updates on the Horizon

This update is just the beginning. I have many more exciting plans for this asset pack, including adding more clothing items, hairstyles, tools, and even skin tone variations. Your feedback is incredibly valuable in shaping these updates, so please keep sharing your thoughts and suggestions.
